Have you ever looked back and caught sight of yourself in a Target three-way mirror? Let me rephrase. Have you ever wandered into the cute Juniors section at the front and convinced yourself you still look young enough to pull off those trendy Mossimo and Xhilaration pieces? Well, if you’re over thirty, raising a small child, and favoring sleep over exercise (like me) I’m willing to bet you have. I’m willing to bet you know just how jarring that sight can be. And, oh, how irrevocably disappointing.
Now that the kids are back in school and you’ve braved the masses at every Target, Walgreens, and Office Depot, it’s time to do a little back-to-school shopping for yourself. I realize I’ve been out of school for years now and my daughter is still way too young for school supplies but the stationery junkie in me can’t help but lust after new desktop items. So here’s my wishlist with a few fun finds that should brighten your work area. Add a little wine in that mug, and mommy’s got herself a winning work station!
Just when I thought I couldn’t possibly love Target any more, they announced this morning that their next designer collaboration is with none other than accessory great Phillip Lim. The it-bag designer will be debuting a collection featuring more than 100 items ranging in price from $19.99 to $299.99 for apparel and $19.99 to $59.99 for accessories. Coveted pieces include bags, dresses and a trench coat for women, and shoes and a leather moto jacket for men. Travel accessories, such as a duffle bag and multipurpose pouches for women and men, round out the collection. Items hit stores September 15th, so be sure to mark your calendars. I have a feeling this is going to be another Wu/Mossimo-type situation.
Target’s next design collaboration lands in stores and online this Sunday, April 14th with a collection of women’s apparel and accessories from celebrity stylist Kate Young. The limited-edition collection features an assortment of special occasion dresses from the woman who’s styled countless celebrities and runway shows as well as worked on other famous Target campaigns – Jason Wu, anyone? Pieces range in price from $29.99 to $89.99 for apparel and $14.99 to $49.99 for jewelry, handbags and shoes. I’ve posted some of my favorite looks here but you can get a full view with prices on Target’s look book.
If you’re dreading the weather this week, you can at least take solace in some retail therapy, courtesy of the people at Target that fell in love with The Webster Miami and decided to give it a permanent home in their shops – making it reasonably affordable for the rest of us to indulge in the carefully curated style that is the polished and fashion-forward Webster.
With prices ranging from $7.99 to $49.99, the Target shop captures the spirit of the Miami boutique at a fraction of the cost – sans the big designer labels, of course. The Webster at Target collection hits stores and Target.com May 6, 2012, along with items for kids, baby, women’s shoes and select styles in plus and petite being exclusive to Target.com.
Target does it again; the retailer has partnered with young, talented designer Jason Wu – best known as a favorite to first lady Michelle Obama – to create beautiful and affordable fashion for all kinds of budgets. Wu designed the first lady’s gown for the Inaugural Ball in 2009, which helped propel him to international acclaim. His new collection for Target is anticipated to be as well-received as Missoni was back in September 2011.
Below, a look at some of Wu’s collection for Target. The collaboration, “inspired by the vision of an American girl in Paris,” will include apparel, handbags, and scarves and is set to debut on February 5th.
This is just a gentle reminder (though I’m sure if you know the name, you won’t need a reminder) that the Missoni collection for Target will be available Tuesday, September 13th in stores and online at Target.com/Missoni. In the meantime, here’s a tempting little teaser pic that’s not really helping to soothe the craving for all those delicious prints:
