A Guide to Shopping the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

Nordstrom-Anniversary-Sale Shopping Guide

Fall is likely the last thing on anyone’s mind right now as Miami turns into the swampiest mosquito playground in the country. But the end of June also signals the onset of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, an annual shopping event, happening in July, that looks ahead to fall with brand new styles priced at big discounts. (Though July 17th is the official start date for the public, Nordstrom card holders get in as early as July 9th.) I’ve been shopping this sale for years with my personal shopper (and now very good friend, Rosi). So this year, I’ve decided to share some of my tips with anyone who wants to take advantage of the sale. Ready to update your look? Read ahead for some tried and true methods. Happy shopping! Bad Brow Bandits

Brows - Anastasia Products

This is a rant against bad brows and the people who cause them. While I fully realize there are SEVERAL more important things I could be complaining about, being a new mom means I get about 30 seconds to make myself presentable these days and I’d rather not spend them drawing features that should already be on my face. So I request your indulgence in my lament as I currently have two skinny half moons framing my eyes, making me look like an angry Disney character every time I frown. And nobody likes an angry Mickey.

Nordstrom Trend Show – Miami 2011

Year after year, I look forward to the Nordstrom Trend Show, and this year’s production was as entertaining as watching their crowd of well-dressed ladies bolt for a red-carpeted entrance in hopes of snagging a front-row seat for the action.

Luckily, my blogger status guaranteed me front row access (but not without the occasional elbow to the rib). Still, I’m happy to share my experience (and slight bruises) with you.

Below, some snapshots of the action at the Merrick Park location of one of my favorite places. If you’re still looking for a gift, this is one of the few places I know of that isn’t completely unbearable during the usual holiday madness.

Click here to keep up with year-round events. We may even get to share a glass of bubbly, or two…

Nordstrom Fits America: BRAvo! Event

With October being the official Breast Cancer Awareness Month, I’ve decided to get involved in as many different ways as time will allow. Aside from participating in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure event (although, for me, it will be more like a “walk” for the cure), I will, once again, be joining Nordstrom in their efforts to support the Susan G. Komen Foundation with their annual Nordstrom Fits America event, BRAvo.

I wrote about this event last year hoping it would be a small call to action to ladies who may not have the time to run a race or do a marathon but still want to help somehow. I hope to do the same this year and encourage you to make an appointment to get fitted and help Nordstrom donate, as they do every year, to the search for the cure to breast cancer.

With every bra purchase, Nordstrom and participating brands (below) will donate $2 to work towards a world without breast cancer. To learn more about how you can get involved, visit www.komen.org.

TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT: Please call Dadeland Mall, Lingerie on two, 786.709.4100, ext. 1240

Also, for more information, including the Nordstrom Prosthesis Program, proper bra fit, or to make an appointment online, CLICK HERE. The Nordstrom Fits America event runs from Thursday, October 20 through Saturday, October 22, 10:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.

My First FNO

So, I’m pretty proud to report that I’m no longer an FNO virgin. Yve and I decided it was no longer OK for us to miss out on one of fashion’s biggest nights and headed out to the next best place to celebrate if you’re outside of New York City – Merrick Park in Coral Gables.

We braved the crowds and made our way through throngs of shoppers to enjoy parties at Nordstrom, Diane Von FurstenbergBetsey Johnson, and Neiman Marcus. The energy was great, the crowds were fun, the stores had fantastic displays, and I picked up a couple of great items along the way (see blurry pics below). I really hope to make this an annual tradition with the girls.

Did any of you celebrate FNO? Post pics of your favorite part of the evening. I’d love to see how everyone else enjoyed it!
