Rebi’s Closet: New Monogram Necklaces

I’m a sucker for accessories. One of my favorite things to do as a little girl was to pile on all of my mother’s jewelry and strut around, adding one scarf after the other and feeling all the more fabulous with each piece. Not much has changed since then and it’s shown each time I shop at my favorite mobile boutique, Rebi’s Closet.

Aside from having a great selection of outfits for quite a few occasions, what I really tend to indulge in is her accessories collection (seriously – I end up with bag after heaping bag of accessories). These monogrammed necklaces are her newest item to lust after, with a choice between sterling silver, gold plated, rose gold plated, or just plain real gold! Check out their Facebook page for pricing and info. Can’t wait to leave my mark on one of these…

Online Shopping Seasons: A Quick Guide to Bargain Hunting

Working from home has also made me more prone to shopping from the comfort of my couch. Recently, to my benefit (and yours!), I came across this useful online shopping guide in Glamour, outlining exactly when specific items go on sale online. The advice comes from Charlie Graham of shopittome.com, a personal shopping service. Here’s to shopping smarter and saving some ca$h!

January: Shorts, Dress Shirts, T-shirts, and Jewelry

February: Suits & Skirts

March: Intimates, Outerwear, and Coats

April: Dress Pants

May: Sunglasses

July: Sweaters

August: Sleepwear, Belts, and Shoes

September: Jeans & Bags

October: Swimwear

MAC Beads

Nothing says summer fashion like the classic BoHo look that gets us through the balmiest of days. Not one to miss out on accessorizing one of my favorite looks of the year, I picked up some beaded bracelets from mac beads after running into them at the salon. They don’t have a website yet but you can comment on their Facebook pics and they’ll send you a message with pricing, details, and info on how to pick up your selections.  You can also call Maria at 786-486-8806 for more info. mac beads range from $12 to $75 depending on the style. Not bad for handmade one-of-a-kind stuff. I’m sold. Happy shopping!

MiMo Madness

Today’s weather was absolutely perfect for a street fair so Tony and I headed out to one of the many outdoor events taking place in Miami this weekend. MiMo Madness, nestled in the heart of Biscayne Boulevard’s Historic District, promised an eclectic bunch and it did not disappoint.

Along with the burlesque acts and street performers, I came across a few great artists and boutiques with unique handmade pieces. Chiquita’s is definitely noteworthy with a dedicated focus on vintage pieces from the 1920’s to the 1980’s.

Karen Keith Designs was another favorite with self-proclaimed jewelry designs for the bold and free-spirited. Wish I’d had the cash on me to take home a vintage miniature magnifying glass on a long black chain.

Check out my finds below. I’m now also a  fan of Treasures by Alicia‘s handmade bags and jewelry. (I’ll admit, the name got me):

Saint Cupcake

I first learned about Saint Cupcake on Valentine’s Day last year when my hubby saved an email I’d sent him from Daily Candy and placed an order from the truly heavenly cupcake shop on the west coast. Luckily, he kept the tradition alive again this year and had this amazing box of sweet treats delivered just in time for the holiday.

Here are a few pictures before, during, and after assembly. I have no idea how they keep their ingredients so fresh, but the final outcome is truly divine.

Rebi’s Closet

Few things have the power to set a girl straight quite like a glass of wine with friends or a little retail therapy. Having experienced the former quite recently (read: 45 minutes ago), I can attest to this wholeheartedly. A few weeks ago, however, my friend Rebecca hosted what is quite possibly the most addicting happy hour I’ve experienced in my life – she’s managed to combine every girl’s favorite stress busters and turn them into an exclusive boutique shopping phenomenon. Quite frankly, I’m surprised no one thought to mix these two before.

Rebi’s Closet is the brain child of my dear friend Rebecca Varona, young entrepreneur and intuitive fashionista. The Miami native has begun what I hope will be a longstanding trend of boutique shopping wine parties that she customizes and delivers to your doorstep. My favorite thing is that I walked out the door with a heaping bag of goodies for less than $120.

I’ve decided to share the fun and host a shopping party of my own on December 10th. If you feel the urge to host your own little heavenly happy hour (and, honestly, why wouldn’t you? There’s even a hostess gift!), email Rebecca at rebis.closet@gmail.com. If you need some quality “Me time” or a last-minute party-ready outfit, she will also meet you for a private appointment if you call her at 786-873-8788. You’re welcome.

Nordstrom Fits America

It’s hard to believe that Summer is almost over and September is well under way.  Just a year ago around this time, I was preparing for my bridal shower, a lingerie-themed soiree that my beautiful bridesmaids put together in the middle of one very stormy month (and all that that implies). I was lucky enough to be showered with well wishes and love from family and friends, but they were also kind enough to grant me my wish to support the NFA (Nordstrom Fits America) event by purchasing all of my racy, lacy, and downright tasty gifts from the charitable retailer.

I am encouraging all women to do the same this year and treat themselves to one, or two (or a few) new pieces in support of the Susan G. Komen Foundation.  Participating sponsors include a few of my favorites such as Betsey Johnson Intimates, Calvin Klein Underwear, and, of course, every girl’s little lifesaver, SPANX, but you can check out the full list of sponsors here.  Nordstrom and participating brands will donate $2.00 for each bra purchased, so do a little good and RSVP today. Please visit Nordstrom for more details. As the eternally wise and beautiful Audrey would say, “As you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands, one for helping yourself and the other for helping others.”
