A Few Favorites…

Bubbles & Ink Blog by Alicia Palma

It’s been about six months since I started writing for MasterCard. They reached out to me as a result of coming across my blog and liking my writing (yay!) and offered me the opportunity to write a few articles for their Priceless Cities blog from a local’s perspective. What began as a twice monthly gig has now become about 6-8 pieces per month that have not only helped me sharpen my writing skills (writing for yourself can get a bit too comfortable), but have also allowed me the opportunity to explore my city with a fresh perspective. The results of which have led me to discover some great new spots, as well as revisit some of my favorites. Here are some of my top choices.

Spa Days: Acqualina in Sunny Isles Beach

Acqualina Resort & Spa in Sunny Isles Beach, FL

While the rest of the country shovels its way through snow, I feel almost guilty pulling up to the palm trees and ocean views that welcome me at the beachfront Sunny Isles location Acqualina calls home. There are rows of Rolls Royce lined up on the sides of the valet ramp, not unlike other places in South Florida. Better Skin from Within: Relax Spa

Relax Spa Miami at Pilates One

What we eat, what we drink, everything we consume shows up on the surface,” explains Alberto, founder of Relax Spa and my esthetician for the day, as he describes the way in which the JetPeel Hydra-Infusion facial works from deep within the skin to remove impurities and provide rejuvenating results on the surface. He likens it to pressure-cleaning for your face and I nod emphatically, immediately regretting my breakfast burrito and wondering how deep he’s going to have to dig to eliminate months of speed-mom drive-thru breakfasts.

Iron Flower Fitness

My recent obsession with Couptessa led me to one of my favorite new health & beauty spots last Saturday. I’ve been hoarding little discount coupons for a couple of months now, so I decided to finally dust one off and check out Iron Flower Fitness, a recent addition to the Wynwood area, nestled at the corner of 73rd and Biscayne.

I was drawn in by the $25 mani/pedi deal but was really taken by the concept – the quirky (and really chic) spot offers beauty essentials such as facials, massages, manicure and pedicure services, and waxing along with an active curriculum that’s anything but standard – Hot Seat and Cheer Fit are at the top of my personal list. Check out their full list of classes here. (Added perk – free gated parking included.) Here’s to getting creative with those resolutions!
