Favorite Finds: Wantable Boxes

Wantable Monthly Subscription Boxes | Bubbles & Ink Blog

Today’s Favorite Find combines my love of discovering new brands with the luxury of having a personal shopper curate the perfect set of pieces based on my preferences. Wantable is a monthly box subscription unlike many others in the way it allows its subscribers to tell them what they like and dislike. A simple picture quiz allows you to rate what you prefer in your accessories, intimates, or makeup box. I opted for the intimates box, where I selected the styles I wear most or would like to wear and gave them honest size information (all secured and private, of course). What came in was a perfect little box of treats and basics I know I’ll be using often.

Cook: Peruvian Eggs Benedict

Peruvian Eggs Benedict Recipe | Bubbles & Ink

I don’t know what compelled me to wake up at 6:45 a.m. on a Saturday and decide that making Eggs Benedict was a good idea. But when there’s a toddler tugging at your blanket and there’s more than plenty of time on a weekday morning, sleep deprivation and a hungry stomach begin making decisions one cannot argue with. So it was that in this deluded state I decided, not only was I going to make Eggs Benedict, I was going to make them Peruvian style with homemade huancaina sauce because I’d had a dream the night before that my husband and I had innovated this particular dish and it had been damn tasty. This is probably a good time to tell you that I’ve never poached an egg in my life. But, hey, there’s a first time for everything.

Milestones

Birthdays & Milestons: Life Lesson on Bubbles & Ink

I celebrated my 34th birthday this weekend. A year ago, I was becoming a mom for the first time, something I thought would never happen. Not because I didn’t think I could handle it. But more because I didn’t think it was my “thing.” I was never the little girl pushing a baby stroller with her dolly in it. And I never went gaga for kids the way my friends did. When I hit my twenties and realized I didn’t coo at every passing infant the way other mommy-hopefuls did, I figured that wasn’t my path and I was OK with that. Combined with my hopes for a successful career, a love of tattoos, incurable wanderlust, and a mouth that curses a little too often, I was hardly anything close to the definition of motherhood. But then I met Lucy.

Favorite Finds: Beauty for Real

Beauty for Real Light Up Lip Gloss | Bubbles & Ink Blog

I could tell you that what drew me to today’s Favorite Find is the fact that it’s loaded with natural antioxidants like green tea and grape seed extracts. Or because it’s great for your lips because of it’s natural anti-aging capabilities. Or even because it’s loaded with essential vitamins from its aloe vera and avocado oil ingredients. But the truth is, I was just REALLY amused by the fact that it has this amazing little LED light built into the cap so that when you turn it on its side and use the handy little mirror to apply Beauty for Real’s lip-plumping lip gloss formula, you can actually apply it with precision, regardless of the lighting situation.

Cezanne Hair at Danny Jelaca

Danny Jelaca Salon Miami Beach | Bubbles & Ink Blog

I knew early on that some people had it way easier than I did in the proverbial styling department. As soon as I was old enough to play with my mother’s hair and makeup tools, I began daydreaming of better-tressed days. By the age of twelve, I was begging for relaxers. Following several years of experimentation with chi’s, blow outs, relaxers, and keratin treatments, Cezanne’s offer to try their new smoothing product was a welcome invitation. Five days and two washes later, I am declaring this the good hair gene my parents weren’t able to give me in utero. I forgive you, Mom.

Meet: Gabriella Wimmer

Gabriella Wimmer | Bubbles & Ink Blog

I like Gabriella Wimmer almost immediately upon meeting her. And not just because she’s offered me a glass of champagne to kick off our time together (though that certainly doesn’t hurt). Gabriella is friendly, approachable, and chic – qualities that should be paired together more often. But, most importantly, Gabriella is a woman who radiates confidence and self-assuredness, qualities of a woman who has fulfilled her purpose. And there’s nothing more stylish than that.

The Art of Purge

The Art of the Purge | Bubbles & Ink Blog by AliciaI’ve had an uncontrollable urge to clean recently. It’s been feeling a bit similar to the nesting phase I went through during my pregnancy, but spanning across all areas of my life. I spent the better part of my Sunday sifting through clothes and shoes, finding myself at the end of the process knee-deep in unnecessary clutter I’d accumulated over the years. Tops and dresses with tags still attached, shoes that had never been worn, and skirts with their pleats still intact all sat neatly piled in a bag on their way to find their new homes. It felt like I’d shed my own skin. And I’ve never felt lighter.

Miami Fashion Blogger Event

Miami Fashion Blogger Event at The Recycled Closet | Bubbles & InkIf you’re in the Miami area this weekend, I hope you’ll join me this Saturday, March 8th at The Recycled Closet (an urban, upscale consignment store) to shop, sip champagne, and raise some money for the Chapman Partnership to benefit the empowerment and rehabilitation of the homeless.

Candace, the lovely blogger behind From C to C, has planned this fantastic event including some of Miami’s fashion bloggers to help style you while you do some good for the community.

The first 50 ladies to attend will receive a goody bag courtesy of Gables Beauty Supply (one of my personal favorites).

To receive 10% off your purchase, post a photo of the event on your Instagram, and tag The Recylced Closet (@therecycledcloset) and the participating bloggers (@fromctoc, @kqnstyle, @bubblesandink {me!}, @downtostars, @fiercelythriftin, @beautyandbrowgirl, @nanysklozet).

I’m really looking forward to this event and working with all these incredibly stylish women. Hoping to see you all there to support a great cause!
