Retail Therapy

To say that I’ve had a rough week is the kind of understatement that deserves its own clever comparative metaphor that I’m simply too exhausted to originate. So rather than bore you with details of what ails me, I’ll ask you to join me in the one thing that usually helps cure my blues – retail therapy. And this time, I’m really going for it…at least in my fantasy shopping cart. I may not be able to spend a dime right now, but a girl can dream. Indulge with me and enjoy.

Btw, if you’re in the position to shop, click on these and get yourself something nice – and then tell me all about it so I can live vicariously. Xx

BaubleBar + Man Repeller

In some very titillating arm party news, BaubleBar announced yesterday that it has launched a festive collaboration with Leandra Medine of Man Repeller. The collab consists of a personalized five bracelet set curated for you based on your answers to some questions. Personally, I keep wondering how I can answer in a way that fills my mailbox with glittery skulls, but that seems to be my mission all around as of late. Get your own set here for $50.

P.S. Thanks to BaubleBar and Man Repeller for the use of these fab images and that festively familiar term, “arm party”.

Cheap & Chic: Accessories

My accessories addiction has led me to four sites that make me want to stock up on one of each. These online shops have items that will update your wardrobe without making a major investment in whatever trend you’re into. Click on the pics below to support small businesses while updating your wardrobe on a lean budget.

Link Love

Tuesday’s as good a day as any to throw some love in the direction of the sites that keep me sane, entertained, and inspired – particularly on days when I’m avoiding work due to the perpetual incompetence that tends to follow the need for technical support. I hope these sites and blogs provide you the same comfort and respite they allow me. Enjoy.

1) Nicolette Mason – A self-proclaimed aesthetically obsessed female.

2) BaubleBar – Because a girl just needs to shop sometimes.

3) A Beautiful Mess – The quirky DIY girl. Love.

4) ban.do – Cutest little things, usually dipped in glitter and sequins.

5) A Little Hamster – Jewelry designer and illustrator from the Netherlands with such delicate pieces.

6) Bella Vida – Fellow blogger friend and lover of fashion.

7) Electric Blogarella – Fabulous It-girl about Miami.

8 ) The Fashion Poet – Miami’s fashion girl, usually hosting or appearing at fantastic events.

For Mom

Today’s Happy Hour post is dedicated to the Mom in your life. The lady who held your hand when you were low and gave you good advice even when you really didn’t want it. The lady who’s put up with you through your adolescent, college, and bad boyfriend years. The lady who still loves you despite your faults – and actually thinks you’re the best thing to ever happen to her, no matter what. Here’s to the moms who know better and aren’t afraid to say so – because it’s for your own good, dammit.

These gifts are all under $100 and go one step beyond the usual flowers and card. Go ahead and buy a little something for mom to show her you may not be done making her crazy, but you can surely make the experience a little sweeter. Happy Mother’s Day, all. And thanks for all you do.

The Webster Shop at Target

If you’re dreading the weather this week, you can at least take solace in some retail therapy, courtesy of the people at Target that fell in love with The Webster Miami and decided to give it a permanent home in their shops – making it reasonably affordable for the rest of us to indulge in the carefully curated style that is the polished and fashion-forward Webster.

With prices ranging from $7.99 to $49.99, the Target shop captures the spirit of the Miami boutique at a fraction of the cost – sans the big designer labels, of course. The Webster at Target collection hits stores and Target.com May 6, 2012, along with items for kids, baby, women’s shoes and select styles in plus and petite being exclusive to Target.com.

Caribbean Happy Hour

The end of a long week feels so incredibly sweet. My husband and I are getting away for a few days to the Caribbean, so I have already happily checked out of work mode, even though we both still have a ton of stuff to do before we can officially set our brains to vacation status. Regardless, I’ve already packed (mentally, anyway) and can’t wait to trade my heels for some (really shiny Tory Burch) flip flops.

Here’s what I’m taking with me:

A Nuptial Happy Hour

Today’s Happy Hour post was inspired by the wedding I’ve been hired to work on today. As you’re reading this, it’s likely that I’m cursing the shoes I’m currently running in, never being one for convention over pretty stuff. But who can resist when there are shoes like the satin-y dreams the guys at Badgley Mischka think up? I wore them on my own wedding day (in fact, I wore two different pairs), and still regularly swoon over them.

Here are some gorgeous things you don’t have to be a bride to wear. In fact, I could seriously justify wearing these around the house while doing laundry (Never met a purchase I couldn’t justify – I’m that good). So, enjoy – and don’t curse me when you’re breaking these puppies in. Beauty, pain. All that jazz. Cheers!

A Rainy Happy Hour

Happy Monday, friends. I realize I owe you a Happy Hour post, and I do apologize for the delay. It seems the rainy weather in these parts had me feeling a bit uninspired in the shopping category until I realized the right pair of boots and coordinating umbrella would make the soggy-ness just a little more tolerable.

So for today’s belated Happy Hour, I bring you spring brights to carry you through these sad April showers. Throw on some tights and a great trench and you’ve got yourself an outfit fit for splashing around town.
