I’m taking this #TBT opportunity (just doesn’t feel right to spell out “Throwback Thursday” and not include a hashtag) to reminisce on my trip to New York last month for the Lucky Magazine Fashion & Beauty Blogger conference. Here’s a look at some of my favorite celebrity moments.

A Shopper’s Vow
A shopper’s vow: Because life is too short for Buyer’s Remorse. (And because I’m running out of closet space.) Here are ten bad shopping habits we should all seriously consider breaking.
My Favorite Items from Lucky FABB
Alright, so it’s been a few weeks since New York and Lucky FABB. And while part of the reason it’s taken me so long to get on here and post this update is that motherhood is damn tough when your husband, baby AND Pomeranian are all sick with different things at the same time (not even kidding – wish I was), it’s also partly because there was one very large carry-on sized tote full of beauty products that came home with me and has taken up permanent residence in a corner outside my closet because I am not entirely sure where to stash it all yet. (Maybe a giveaway…? Stay tuned!) In any case, I was finally able to dig through that sucker and pull out my absolute favorite items. Most of these are really affordable, but read through or click for sales and special discounts you can use to get your own. Hope you like these as much as I do. I’ve been using most of them almost daily since I made it back home.
New York Bound
The last time I was in New York City, I was eight weeks pregnant, wearing unflattering red jeans, and searching for sour pickles at every corner deli (not even kidding). Over a year later, I’m packing my bags and heading back to Manhattan to take part in Lucky magazine’s FABB (Fashion and Beauty Blogger) conference. Thankfully, this time I’ve shed (most of) the baby weight and vowed to make better pant choices.
If you want to follow along (there’s word of Erica Domesek of P.S. I Made This and ANTM judge Bryan Boy stopping by), check me out on Instagram. I’ll be back next week. Can’t wait to let you all know how it went!
Cook: Cuban Arroz con Pollo
Some of my fondest childhood memories involve some sort of family gathering that usually began early in the day, around the kitchen area of a relative’s home. More often than not, that scene involved my grandmother prepping and cooking a meal that always proved too large to eat but too tasty to be discarded. So we went for seconds, and sometimes thirds, and grew up relishing in the fact that Cuban women were built to have curves.
I was recently lucky enough to capture one of these gatherings in my own little kitchen, with Abuela making one of my absolute favorite dishes: Arroz con Pollo a la Chorrera (or, Cuban Yellow Rice with Chicken). Keep reading for pics and step-by-step instructions on how to recreate it sans Cuban Abuela.
Finding Balance
It’s been twenty-four weeks since Lucy was born. Twenty-four amazing weeks full of love, discovery, and adjustment. Twenty-four weeks throughout which I’ve learned that there is nothing as incredibly rewarding as being a mom. But I am tired. So, so incredibly tired. And after five months of non-interrupted mothering, give or take a few work opportunities and a couple of much-needed weekend getaways with my husband, I am struggling to find a balance between working, blogging, parenting, and rediscovering what it means to be me.
Shop: Your New iPhone Case
I’ve got a lot of love for my iPhone. Not because I feel it’s the best smart phone technology available (though it does the job for me just fine). It’s really more of a connection thing. I’m rarely seen without my phone, whether I’m working on an event or home taking care of Lucy (how else am I going to get all those embarrassing pics to blackmail her with in her teen years?). With the new iPhone 5c and 5s now temping iPhone users everywhere with an imminent upgrade, I figured I’d give my phone case an upgrade as well. Check out my favorites and where to shop after the jump.

What Not to Say
I chose to write this well after the arrival of my daughter to ensure I wouldn’t be going off on a rant fueled by hormones and lack of oxygen (it was really tough to breathe towards the end). Combined with my Cuban temper, it would’ve only made for a lethal dose of snark. But now that Lucy is well on the other side of the belly, I feel it’s safe to share my biggest pet peeves over the last few months (though I can’t guarantee it will be completely snark-free).
Outfit Post: Date Night
Date nights took on a very special meaning when Lucy was born. Personally, I had no idea what to expect in terms of managing our personal time with a baby in our lives. So the fact that we have amazing family members who will watch her while we go out and enjoy some time as Mr. and Mrs. is incredibly precious – and exactly what we need at the end of a long week of changing diapers. Last weekend, we grabbed a couple of drinks at DRB before catching the Bruno Mars concert (major husband brownie points). Seeing as to how I’m a wife and mom now, I went for a Betty Draper meets Wednesday Adams feel. No sense in losing one’s identity, after all…
