My Favorite Items from Lucky FABB
Alright, so it’s been a few weeks since New York and Lucky FABB. And while part of the reason it’s taken me so long to get on here and post this update is that motherhood is damn tough when your husband, baby AND Pomeranian are all sick with different things at the same time (not even kidding – wish I was), it’s also partly because there was one very large carry-on sized tote full of beauty products that came home with me and has taken up permanent residence in a corner outside my closet because I am not entirely sure where to stash it all yet. (Maybe a giveaway…? Stay tuned!) In any case, I was finally able to dig through that sucker and pull out my absolute favorite items. Most of these are really affordable, but read through or click for sales and special discounts you can use to get your own. Hope you like these as much as I do. I’ve been using most of them almost daily since I made it back home.
New York Bound
The last time I was in New York City, I was eight weeks pregnant, wearing unflattering red jeans, and searching for sour pickles at every corner deli (not even kidding). Over a year later, I’m packing my bags and heading back to Manhattan to take part in Lucky magazine’s FABB (Fashion and Beauty Blogger) conference. Thankfully, this time I’ve shed (most of) the baby weight and vowed to make better pant choices.

I’ve got a lot of love for my iPhone. Not because I feel it’s the best smart phone technology available (though it does the job for me just fine). It’s really more of a connection thing. I’m rarely seen without my phone, whether I’m working on an event or home taking care of Lucy (how else am I going to get all those embarrassing pics to blackmail her with in her teen years?). With the new iPhone 5c and 5s now temping iPhone users everywhere with an imminent upgrade, I figured I’d give my phone case an upgrade as well. Outfit Post: Date Night
Date nights took on a very special meaning when Lucy was born. Personally, I had no idea what to expect in terms of managing our personal time with a baby in our lives. So the fact that we have amazing family members who will watch her while we go out and enjoy some time as Mr. and Mrs. is incredibly precious – and exactly what we need at the end of a long week of changing diapers. Last weekend, we grabbed a couple of drinks at DRB before catching the Bruno Mars concert (major husband brownie points). Seeing as to how I’m a wife and mom now, I went for a Betty Draper meets Wednesday Adams feel. No sense in losing one’s identity, after all…
Salon Saturdays: Hair by Hisham
I was raised with the understanding that a salon is a sanctuary. The place a woman can go to recharge, revamp, and rediscover herself. Simple things like the thick, glossy coat of a good manicure and the light tension of a proper blow dry always make me feel like everything’s going to be just fine. And it’s way cheaper than therapy. So when I received an invitation to check out Hair by Hisham last Saturday before its grand opening this fall, I booked a babysitter, charged the camera, and contemplated my mani/pedi color at least a dozen times.
Outfit Post: The Average Girl
This is my first outfit post. Considering that I’m a “fashion blogger,” it’s almost laughable that it’s taken me three years to put myself in front of the camera. Most girls jump into this right away, with zero hesitation or hang-ups. And to them, I say, “Well done!” But I’m not like those girls.
Back to School Wish List
Now that the kids are back in school and you’ve braved the masses at every Target, Walgreens, and Office Depot, it’s time to do a little back-to-school shopping for yourself. I realize I’ve been out of school for years now and my daughter is still way too young for school supplies but the stationery junkie in me can’t help but lust after new desktop items. So here’s my wishlist with a few fun finds that should brighten your work area. Add a little wine in that mug, and mommy’s got herself a winning work station!
Sisley Eye Cream Sample at Saks
Though I’m incredibly grateful and happy to report that Lucy has been sleeping through the night for the past few weeks, I can still certainly empathize with all moms on the fact that caring for a baby is pretty exhausting full-time work. The kind of work that still requires naps and really great eye cream to help with the inevitable circles and baggage that have taken up residence on my face. Thankfully, the good people at Saks Fifth Avenue allowed me to sample the new Sisley Supremya La Nuit Eye Serum for the past couple of weeks. And I’ve gotta say, I’m pretty impressed.
